Bradley County mayor asks commissioners to place resolution to let TRC lease lapse for EMA conversion

County Mayor said commissioners had a resolution authorizing him not to renew the lease on the TRC Building so the county could convert it into an Emergency Management Agency building in the fall and asked that the item be placed on an upcoming agenda.

The request matters because it would allow the county to change use of an existing facility to house Bradley County Emergency Management Agency operations; the mayor asked commissioners to add the resolution to a future voting agenda so the lease would not be renewed and the conversion could proceed.

"You do have a resolution in front of you that I passed out that is giving me the authority not to renew a lease on the TRC Building so that we can convert it into an EMA Building sometime in the fall. If someone would put that on the agenda, I would appreciate it," County Mayor said during the work session.

Commissioner Mike Hughes acknowledged the request. No formal motion or vote was recorded during the work session; the mayor asked commissioners to place the resolution on a future agenda for action.

The commission did not take a formal vote during the work session. The mayor provided a timeline of "sometime in the fall" for the planned conversion but did not specify dates, costs, or which EMA offices or staff would move into the building.
