The LaSalle Finance Committee approved a $12,500 redevelopment incentive grant for the premises at 2968 Saint Vincent Avenue on a roll-call vote.
The grant was requested by Steve Michelini and represented at the meeting by Stephanie Michellini. Chairman Ptak read the agenda item and Alderman Thompson moved to approve the application, with Alderman Reynolds seconding the motion.
Committee members discussed the exact scope of the proposed work. Stephanie Michellini said the work is "strictly just the front" of the building and that the contractor estimates that the contractor would remove the cedar in the front. She also said the color for the façade wrap or cladding had not yet been decided. Committee members noted the application demonstrates the redevelopment incentive program is available for commercial properties outside downtown.
Roll call on the motion recorded seven votes in favor, one abstention by Alderman Crane, and the motion carried.
The committee did not specify a timeline for completion, and the application materials referenced two contractor bids with differing language about wrapping the building; the applicant clarified the intent is work on the front façade only.
