A Select Board letter dated April 22 asked the committee to review filing fees, which the committee last adjusted in 2011. Committee members discussed higher legal‑ad, postage and administrative costs since 2011 and reviewed a proposed simplified schedule. The committee voted to recommend the new rates to the Select Board.
Key proposed changes read into the record included: - Certificate of Appropriateness (new construction): current residential $75 / commercial $100 → proposed $100 for both. - Additions/alterations (decks, windows, doors, roofs, solar panels): current residential $40 / commercial $60 → proposed $60 for both. - Site structures/fences/sheds/designs/paint: current residential $25 / commercial $25 → proposed $40 for both. - Certificate of Exemption: current $20 → proposed $30 for both. - Certificate of Demolition: current $50 → proposed $75 for both.
Committee members noted the change would modestly increase revenue (current annual receipts roughly $6,000–$10,000 depending on application volume) and that the new structure flattens residential and commercial charges. The committee moved, seconded and voted to accept the proposed schedule and forward the recommendation to the Select Board for final action.
