BOE upholds several assessments, approves findings for multiple appeals

The Fairbanks North Star Borough Board of Equalization handled multiple remaining matters on April 18, upholding assessor valuations where appellants did not appear and approving a series of written findings and conclusions for earlier hearings.
When the appellant for Case 159 (PAN 0296155, 2441 Columbine Drive — Daniel F. and Tayah Condon) did not appear, assessor staff presented the department’s comparables and attempts to schedule an inspection. The board voted to uphold the assessor’s 2025 valuation of $275,398 (land $13,516; improvements $261,882) on a 5‑0 vote.
The board also reviewed and approved written findings and conclusions of law for a set of previously heard cases (cases 75, 76, 77, 79 and 158). Where needed, the board accepted a narrow amendment to correct phrasing in a findings paragraph and removed a paragraph referencing appellant failure to provide access in another set of findings before approving the documents. The board recorded votes and directed the clerk to mail the findings to appellants and the assessor as required by borough procedure.
Board members and borough staff noted routine procedural items, recusals in specific matters, and the clerk’s role in certifying written decisions. The board closed the session after completing the docket for the afternoon.
