The Navajo County Board of Supervisors approved Attachment D to an intergovernmental agreement with the Navajo Nation to supply roadway maintenance material for the N 8065 road maintenance project.
A county presenter said the Forest Lake chapter and the Navajo Division of Transportation requested assistance to place aggregate-base gravel for 0.8 miles of the unpaved N 8065, which provides access for residents, school buses and first responders. The presenter reported the estimated project cost is $99,952 and that funding capacity currently exists in the HEERF budget. Staff recommended approval following the county’s transportation partnership process.
Supervisor comments praised staff, thanked NDOT, and described the road’s muddy conditions during recent rains, saying gravel stabilizes the roadway and improves access. The board moved, seconded and approved the intergovernmental assistance by voice vote with no recorded opposition.
Staff indicated the assistance focuses on material contribution; no detailed schedule or contract language was discussed on the record during the meeting. The presenter said project implementation will proceed under the transportation partnership process in coordination with the Forest Lake chapter and Navajo DOT.
