The Senior Citizens Advisory Commission of the Fairbanks North Star Borough adjourned its Jan. 9 meeting at 12:14 p.m. after officials determined the panel did not have a quorum and voted to reconvene on Thursday, Jan. 23, 2025, at 12:00 p.m.
Clerk called the roll and reported that Commissioner Wood, Commissioner Suppli and Commissioner Anthony were excused for the meeting. "And you do not have a quorum," the Clerk said. Commissioners Duffy, Sharp and Daniello were present and proceeded to select a new meeting date so business could continue at a later session.
Commission members discussed three possible dates for the next meeting: Thursday, Jan. 16; Thursday, Jan. 23; and Thursday, Jan. 30. Commissioner Sharp moved to adjourn and meet on Thursday, Jan. 23, at 12:00 p.m. Commissioner Duffy seconded the motion. The body voted 3-0 (Duffy — yes; Sharp — yes; Daniello — yes) to adjourn and reconvene on Jan. 23.
The commission chair noted the decision was made because it was important to meet with new commission members present and to address several items that require attention. Commissioners and staff discussed whether Parks and Recreation staff could be represented at the rescheduled meeting so that topics requiring that department's input could be covered.
The Senior Citizens Advisory Commission formally adjourned the Jan. 9 meeting at approximately 12:14 p.m.; members indicated they expect to meet again on Jan. 23 at 12:00 p.m. in the chambers.
