Goodwin Elementary teams honored as Positive Vibes League champions

Claire Johnson, a teacher and co-commissioner of the league, described Positive Vibes as a local nonprofit established to honor Ranjanae Smith and said the league serves second through fifth graders in underserved communities, providing affordable mentorship, cheerleading and safe activities. Michael Clark, who coached both championship teams, said the Goodwin teams won both JV (second–third grade) and varsity (fourth–fifth grade) divisions and credited the students for their work through cold-weather practices.
Organizers said the league included teams from Chacora, Pepper Hill, Hundley Park and North Charleston Elementary this year and said they hope to expand next season and secure a facility. The council applauded the children and league volunteers during the meeting's recognition portion.
