Fairbanks — The borough Finance Committee approved a contract award on April 17 to repave the Noel Wien Library parking lot and install curbs, a sidewalk, signage and landscaping.
Corey Beal and David Bradley of borough staff said the project was publicly bid under borough procurement rules and that Great Northwest Inc. submitted the lowest responsive, responsible bid among six bidders. The recommended award is for the base bid plus additive alternate 1, with a contract amount of $621,814.
Staff noted the engineers’ estimate and the available project funds differed from the low bid; the project is funded from a larger Noel Wien project budget and staff said the lower bid was within an acceptable range. Beal said consultants are providing design and construction administration; design contract value noted at about $70,000.
The Assembly Finance Committee voted 9–0 to award IFB 25063 to Great Northwest Inc.; the award was moved by an assembly member and seconded during the meeting.
Ending
Construction will occur in the coming months under the awarded contract and staff said the work includes complete repaving of the lot and the added accessibility improvements.
