The Graham County Board of Supervisors approved a special-event liquor license recommendation for a Samaritan House fundraiser scheduled at the VFW on Saturday, March 1, 2025, from 6 p.m. until just before midnight.
Steve McGoin of planning and zoning described the event and application timeline: "This is gonna happen at the VFW, and it's gonna be Saturday, 03/01/2025 from 6PM to just before midnight. And with your approval or with your recommendation, we'll send it on to the state." He said the state now processes applications through an online portal and staff had corrected an earlier date error on the application.
A supervisor said the request was largely a formality after correcting the date, moved to approve the special-event license recommendation and the board voted to approve by voice. McGoin asked attendees to ensure the county signature was completed before forwarding the application to the state.
The county will forward its recommendation to the state liquor authorities for final approval through the state's application portal.
