Huachuca City Lions Club plans clothing exchange, purse auction and June speaker event

Christie Hirschberg, president of the Huachuca City Lions Club, told KWCD listeners the club will hold a clothing exchange tomorrow from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Lions building on Huachuca Boulevard to distribute donated clothing to residents in need. The club said residents may donate items during the event or shop even if they have nothing to donate.
Hirschberg also promoted a purse-auction fundraiser set for May 10 at Buddy’s Bar in Whetstone, with a high-tea format, a hat contest and both new and gently used purses for auction. She said proceeds will support local eyeglasses, eye exams and other community programs the Lions Club funds in Huachuca City and Whetstone.
The Lions Club plans a June 24 meeting with Sheriff Mark Daniels as a guest speaker; Hirschberg said the club will offer free food and a barbecue and encouraged residents to attend. She also noted the club is planting a tree behind the Huachuca City library and is running periodic open houses and mixers to recruit new members.
