Sulphur Springs Valley Electric Cooperative to trial four-day office week, offers May 29 annual meeting details

Officials of Sulphur Springs Valley Electric Cooperative announced on KWCD that the cooperative will test a four-day workweek for staff, moving to an extended-hours schedule Monday through Thursday to reduce costs and provide more in-person availability during weekdays.
Jason Bowling, identified on-air as CEO of SSVEC, and Corey East, vice president of marketing communications, told the First Watch program the cooperative plans a six-month trial to begin in early June; spokespeople said the trial will staff all departments longer each weekday (6:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday–Thursday) while the cooperative’s offices will be closed on Fridays. “We’re going to be going to a 04:10 schedule starting June 2,” East said on-air; elsewhere in the discussion SSVEC staff said the change would be “as of June 1.” The cooperative described the change as a test to measure cost savings, fleet-use reductions and member-service impacts.
SSVEC also promoted its annual meeting on May 29 at Buena High School’s Klein Center in Sierra Vista. Registration opens at 6 p.m., the meeting begins at 7 p.m., and SSVEC said every attending member will receive a $25 bill credit. The meeting will include a safety demonstration and cooperative updates from the board and CEO; organizers said there will be raffle prizes and additional bill-credit drawings.

SSVEC staff noted satellite-office availability will vary: Patagonia and Wilfredo/Alfredo (satellite MSR sites) will maintain limited on-site staff during weekday hours. Members were directed to SSVEC online tools such as SmartHub for account access and were reassured that outage management and 24/7 crew response will continue unaffected by office-hour changes.
SSVEC representatives said the trial will run six months, after which the cooperative will evaluate operational impacts and membership feedback before making a permanent decision.
