Local nonprofit asks county for funding to distribute household supplies to seniors

During the citizens-to-be-heard portion of the meeting, Jason Stallworth said he has led distribution efforts for years and asked the board to consider a funding request to support operations in multiple towns. "I would be willing to distribute personal and household supplies to our senior population and the undeserved so that they can get household things in their homes," Stallworth said.
Stallworth said he planned to serve Chattahoochee, Havana, Quincy, Midway and Gretna and that his nonprofit is registered as a 501(c)(3). Commissioners and staff responded that formal funding requests should be routed through the county administrator's office so staff can evaluate eligibility, available funding sources and whether the request should go to the appropriate grant or discretionary funding process. No county funds were approved at the meeting; staff and commissioners encouraged Stallworth to submit a written request to the administrator for follow up.
