Holmen School District building addition on track; LMC to open after summer

During an April update to Holmen School District teachers, Brad, a construction project representative, said the district’s new two-story addition is on track, with footings poured, foundation walls in and backfilling under way and interior work progressing.
The addition will house a library media center and new girls locker-room and bathroom areas. Brad said flooring, lighting and ceiling grid installation are underway in the area known as “Area B,” elevators are due next week, and the project team expects furnishings to be delivered in July so the building can be turned over ahead of the next school year.
“They got the footings poured, foundation walls in, and today they're back filling, so we can start continuing on work there. We just have to dig another pier in a few stoops and, keep going on that. So things are going really well,” Brad said. He added that crews have begun interior finishes in the new addition: “we have flooring going in, lights are dropping in, ceiling grid is going in, elevators coming in next week. And what we're looking to do is sometime in July, have the furnishings in here and we'll pretty much have this building wrapped up.”
Brad also described exterior work: brick is installed, spray foam is due in some areas, and metal paneling for portions of the facade should begin when weather cooperates. He said after interior finishes are complete, contractors will shift to exterior excavation, a new road and landscaping.
Miss Johnson, an ELA teacher who spoke during the update, said the district had moved some classrooms to make way for locker-room work and praised the new LMC space. “As an ELA teacher, I'm super excited about that,” she said. Brad said the team will begin placing library furnishings and moving books in after school is out.
School staff also discussed the logistic steps that will follow the end of the school year: Brad said teachers’ materials will be packed into trailers and stored outside so crews can complete remaining work across the building.
The district offered to provide another progress update in May; Miss Johnson invited staff and teachers to attend that session.
