Commission authorizes staff to respond to governor's office request for county documents

The Gadsden County Board of County Commissioners voted to authorize county staff to collect and provide documents requested by the Office of the Governor as part of a state review.
Attorney Melissa Rose Bertis told commissioners the county received a letter from the governor's office on April 11 requesting information including budget and spending reports, position descriptions, contracts, grants, service‑delivery metrics and departmental hours and task projections. "That information is due... by May 2," she said, urging the board to authorize staff to compile responsive materials.
The board approved staff gathering the requested material and recommended designating the finance director, through the county administrator's office, as the county's primary point of contact with the governor's office. Staff said the finance director and county administrator will coordinate the response and work with department heads to compile the requested records.
Commissioners asked staff to be careful about scope — staff said the request pertains to service and performance metrics and budget documents, not to internal personnel disciplinary files. The board approved the motion without substantive amendment and directed staff to complete the compilation by the stated deadline and to return to the board with any legal or scope questions before submitting materials to the governor's office.
