The county’s Municipal Service Benefit Unit (MSBU) advisory committee and commissioners approved a one‑year extension of the Sweetbay mowing contract and added a $2,500 amendment to pay for winter trash pickup.
MSBU coordinator Scott Parish told the board the amendment formalizes a service the county had paid for from budget previously; the new addendum brings total annual payment to roughly $70,004 (the $2,500 addition was calculated by staff against the existing term). Because the extension was not competitively bid this year, county staff asked the board to waive procurement rules; the board agreed and approved the extension and the addendum.
The MSBU also recommended averaging the seasonal contract payments over 12 months to smooth invoicing; staff said that would be a clerical invoicing change and the clerk’s office indicated no objection.
Separately, commissioners approved the MSBU’s recommendation to appoint Trey Donovan to fill seat number 5 on the committee. Donovan’s appointment will let the MSBU reorganize its leadership at the next meeting.
Ending: Staff will finalize the contract addendum, implement monthly invoicing if requested, and the MSBU will reorganize with the newly appointed member at its May meeting.
