Hanover found the district's 23.5-credit graduation requirement aligns with peer ranges (about 22.5–27.5 credits) and noted no consistent link between total credit load and graduation-rate performance. The report recommended the district consider creating a comprehensive graduate profile (sometimes called a "portrait of a graduate") to define postsecondary readiness and guide course recommendations for students pursuing university, technical college, military or workforce paths. Hanover also suggested the district examine math-credit expectations and course sequencing to determine whether requirements better aligned with postsecondary expectations could improve preparedness.
District administration said the report is a first step in program review; next steps include deeper analysis of course patterns and sequencing, discussions with secondary stakeholders, and standardizing communications for postsecondary planning. Board members asked for follow-up data on core course-sequencing and district comparisons and requested the review be returned for further discussion at a future meeting.
