Board approves early‑college applications, professional‑development plan and 7 Mindsets renewal

Start College Now: The committee presented five student applications seeking to take four courses at Mid-State Technical College in fall 2025 through the Start College Now program. The board approved the five applications as presented.
Professional development plan and calendar: Director of Teaching and Learning Roxanne Filts presented the district’s professional development plan and calendar for the 2025–26 school year. Committee materials indicated the plan and calendar were developed with input from the quality educator committee, curriculum coordinators, council for instructional improvement and administrative teams; the plan aligns PD days with the district strategic framework and includes hybrid PD days, off‑campus record‑keeping days, and adjustments that allow one additional non‑report date. The board approved the professional development plan and the PD calendar for 2025–26.
7 Mindsets renewal: The board approved a proposal to renew the 7 Mindsets social‑emotional learning curriculum for grades 6–12 for 2025–26 at a cost not to exceed $39,000. Steve Hepp, director of people services, said the renewal would be funded through the district’s mental health grant and the comprehensive coordinated early intervening services fund. The package includes curriculum and a base education platform to support tier 2 and tier 3 interventions.
Votes and procedure: the committee recommended ES1 through ES4 and the board approved the items by motion and voice vote; meeting minutes show the motion and second and that "the items carry."
