District previews 2025–26 staffing needs; structured literacy cited as priority

District administrators told the Council Rock Education Committee on April 28 that staffing plans for the 2025–26 school year remain preliminary and contingent on enrollment, course selections and final budget decisions.
Administrators said the district is aligning staffing with district initiatives, and singled out structured literacy as a major professional‑development focus for next year. The district said it will submit its literacy plan to the state and is discussing the possible addition of reading specialists or reading coaches at multiple levels to support that initiative.
Officials cautioned that staffing decisions depend on several moving parts: secondary elective enrollment, registration completion for kindergarten and the budget process. Administrators said they expect clearer recommendations at the May education committee meeting.
The district cited previous staffing additions it considers successful, including two teachers on special assignment at the elementary level and two assistant athletic directors at the secondary level.
