Summary
The Council Rock Education Foundation reported that annual contributions to the Council Rock School District have more than doubled since 2022, announced 11 approved innovative-learning grants for 2025–26 totaling about $46,000 and pledged an additional $50,000 for district "nights for outreach."
Beth Ann Dobosch, executive director of the Council Rock Education Foundation, told the Council Rock Education Committee on April 28 that the foundation has grown its annual support to the district and approved grants and a new donation to fund district programs.
Dobosch said CREF’s contributions have “more than doubled” since 2022 and credited donors and community engagement for the increase. She listed programs funded this school year — the district seal of biliteracy at Council Rock High School North and South; 1 Book, 1 Seventh Grade reading at Holland and Newtown Middle schools; a student leadership summit; vocational work experiences at the STAR Center; a children’s government book project at Council Rock High School North; STEAM fabrication at Newtown and Rolling Hills elementaries; sustainability up‑cycling projects; Stop the Bleed training for eighth graders; and a side‑by‑side music mentorship program at Council Rock North.
Dobosch said 11 innovative-learning grants have been approved for 2025–26, “totaling over 46,000 in direct funding,” and that CREF will make an additional $50,000 donation specifically designated to support the district’s nights for outreach, free community education events. She asked the board to coordinate an official check presentation at an upcoming school board meeting.
Superintendent Andy Shainko thanked CREF for the partnership and the projects benefitting students across grade levels.
Dobosch also promoted CREF events and outreach: prize‑patrol classroom visits this spring and the sixth annual CREF Golf Classic on June 23 at Jericho National Golf Club, which she said helps raise funds for grants and programs.
The foundation’s announcement did not include a formal board action or vote; the update was informational. The district and CREF plan further coordination on the check presentation and continued promotion of grant activities.
Ending
CREF asked families and community members to follow CREF and Council Rock on social media for prize‑patrol locations and said it will continue grantmaking next year to support STEAM, arts and humanities, world languages, social‑emotional learning and career‑connected experiences.
