South Weber City officials publicly recognized City Treasurer Kia Jensen for earning a Certified Public Funds Investment Manager certification.
Staff explained that the council, late last year, authorized the city to begin investing a portion of municipal funds outside the State Public Treasurer’s Investment Fund with the aim of improving returns and stewardship. Staff said the city selected an investment manager in December and adopted procedures for managing public funds; the treasurer then completed certification coursework and testing.
“This enhances the knowledge, skills, and the confidence in managing public funds,” a staff presenter said while describing the certification’s intent to provide investment tools and strategies for municipal funds. Staff asked the council to publicly acknowledge Jensen’s work; the council applauded her accomplishment.
No formal action was required; the item was a ceremonial recognition and informational briefing on the city’s investment program.
