At its April 28 meeting the Mount Holly City Council approved a one‑year property management agreement with MECA Commercial to manage city‑owned buildings on East Central Avenue.
City staff recalled that council had asked for a revised option after prior discussions. MECA agreed to a one‑year contract to provide property management services for the buildings the city acquired on East Central Avenue at a fee of $12.50 per month (to be paid from rents). City staff said the fee covers routine management and maintenance tasks; extraordinary repairs would be addressed separately.
Council action: Mr. Meadows moved to approve the property management agreement; Mr. Huff seconded. The motion passed by voice vote.
Next steps: MECA will manage tenant solicitation for vacant units, perform day‑to‑day property management and routine maintenance, and remit rents per contract terms. Staff will monitor the relationship and return to council for any contract changes or if extraordinary maintenance needs arise.
