The Farmington Public School District Board approved multiple administrative personnel actions and adopted routine policies at its May 12 meeting.
Administration presented a resolution proposing placement of a tenured staff member on unrequested leave because of decreased enrollment in community and parent‑education programs. Jess (staff member) described the process and said provisions of the collective bargaining agreement and seniority rules were followed; teachers placed on unrequested leave may request a hearing before the board within 10 days of official notice. The board approved the resolution on a voice vote (motion by Dooley, second by Storley).
Separately the board approved nonrenewal/termination of probationary teacher contracts. Administration said the affected teachers were probationary employees, many holding tiered or out‑of‑field licenses that expire June 30, 2025; the district will follow posting and rehire procedures per the Professional Educator Licensing and Standards Board (PELSB) rules. The resolution to terminate or nonrenew probationary contracts passed on a voice vote (motion by Storley, second by Johnson).
The board also adopted three routine policies that had been reviewed at the prior work session, including Policy 901 (Community Notification of Predatory Offenders). Board members characterized the policy updates as routine; a motion to adopt the policies passed by voice vote (motion by Storley/Starley per the meeting record, second by DeWille).
Administration noted next steps for affected staff, including notifications and timelines for hearings or reapplication under posted vacancies.
