Garfield Heights library branch manager promotes author talk, mobile pantry and asks for Friends volunteers

Miss Antonio, the Garfield Heights branch manager, used her council report to promote three community services and to request volunteers.

She said the library will host an author event on Thursday at 7 p.m. with Courtney Hauser, a community counselor and co‑leader of Village Church; about 20 people had registered at the time of the meeting. The branch manager asked for a strong turnout to support the author and the library’s programming.

Miss Antonio also announced that the library’s mobile pantry will operate next Wednesday around 11 a.m. to noon in the library parking lot on Turning Road, where residents can pick up produce. She described the previous session as held in heavy rain and asked the community to hope for better weather this time.

Finally, Miss Antonio made a direct plea for volunteers to form or reconstitute a Friends of the Library group to help run programming, organize book sales and handle some financial tasks. She said the branch currently has one volunteer, Mary, who has served for more than 20 years but does not wish to continue indefinitely, and asked community members to contact the branch if they can help.
