Jessica Warren, Cowlitz County human-resources staff, asked the Board to approve recruiting to fill a work-crew officer position in the corrections division after the incumbent submitted a retirement notice effective June 1. Warren and the corrections director said in-custody and out-of-custody work crews operate and that the county has resumed in-custody crews that had fallen away during COVID.
Warren also requested an executive session for collective-bargaining discussions; the Board recessed for the session, estimated about 15 minutes, and later returned with no decisions rendered.
What’s next: staff will proceed with the recruitment process to fill the corrections work-crew officer position and will present any personnel actions required at future open-meeting agenda items consistent with county hiring policy.
