Airport leadership briefed committee members on a proposed joint resolution authorizing purchase of a 1.62-acre property at 5410 South Hayford Road, identified in airport documents as programmed for future acquisition.
Todd (airport staff) described the parcel as within Airport Compatibility Zone 3 (ACZ 3), inside the FAA 65-decibel noise contour and on the airport layout plan. He said the owner, identified in the presentation as Mrs. Parker, procured a market appraisal that returned a value of about $199,000 (roughly $4 per square foot) for the lot and outbuildings.
Staff said funding for the purchase would come from airport general revenues and noted the airport has earlier acquired nearby properties through similar processes. Committee members asked whether the property has an immediate use; staff responded that the site is not compatible with residential use given proximity to parallel runways and is designated light industrial on the zoning map but is programmed for acquisition over time when owners choose to sell.
Frank Miller, the airport’s interim CEO introduced to the committee, said he is “pleased to report that the airport is moving along quite nicely” and described airport staff as “very strong.” The committee received the briefing; no formal vote or execution was recorded in committee.
