The Clearwater Community Redevelopment Agency on April 28 presented its April 2025 business spotlight to Chiang Mai Thai & Sushi, a downtown restaurant at 415 Cleveland Street.
The recognition highlights the restaurant’s long tenure and community connections. "Chiang Mai Thai and sushi is more than just a place to eat. It's a reflection of family, culture, and community," CRA specialist Tasha Hatley said as she introduced the business and the promotional video produced by CRA public communications.
Owners Sony Louvahn and his partner described the business as a family venture that has served both tourists and longtime local customers since opening in February 2008. "We started in 02/2008, making this 17 years in operation," owner Salmi Louvain said. Sony Louvahn credited CRA staff and partners for helping with the spotlight, saying the video and outreach prompted out‑of‑state visitors and two consecutive record weekend sales since the item aired. "Since that spotlight aired, we've enjoyed 2 separate back to back record breaking weekend sales in our business," Louvahn said.
CRA staff said the business spotlight is part of ongoing efforts to support downtown businesses and promote economic development; a full article and the video are available on myclearwatercra.com, staff said. The CRA presented a certificate recognizing Chiang Mai Thai & Sushi for its impact on downtown vibrancy.
The presentation included comments from Vicki Shire, CRA division manager, thanking the owners for their commitment, and from council members and trustees who noted the restaurant's longevity and popularity.
The spotlight and accompanying materials will remain part of CRA outreach and promotional channels for downtown business support.
