Crest Hill Plan Commission approves bylaws update; Commissioner Angelo DeCerio resigns after Ward 1 election

The Crest Hill Plan Commission voted 7‑0 Thursday to approve amendments to its bylaws that incorporate recent City Council clarifications on commissioner compensation and absence rules and to add an updated signature line for the Community and Economic Development director.
Mike (staff) told commissioners the changes mirror clarifications the City Council made to the ordinance on compensation and the number of allowable absences; the amendments also update dates and add a signature line for Patrick Ainsworth, who is the city’s new Community and Economic Development director. Commissioner Ken Carroll moved approval; the roll call vote was seven in favor, none opposed.
During other business Commissioner Angelo DeCerio announced his resignation from the Plan Commission effective at the close of the meeting because he has been elected alderman of Ward 1 and cannot serve on both bodies. DeCerio told the commission he has served since February 2020 and that his resignation was not due to ill will. Chair Bill Thomas thanked DeCerio for his service, noting DeCerio had served as secretary for several years, and the commission said it will consider officer elections at the next meeting; staff indicated the next likely meeting for officer elections will be in June because there were no May agenda items.
The commission did not take formal action on filling the vacancy at Thursday’s meeting. Staff said they will place election of officers and any vacancy business on a future agenda. DeCerio moved for adjournment as his final act on the commission; the meeting adjourned at about 8 p.m.
