PMAC to recruit three members; commissioners urge clearer vacancy posting on city site

The Public Market Advisory Commission will accept applications to fill three openings on the commission, Chair Lisa Young told members at the April 17 meeting.
Stephanie said the clerk’s office confirmed applications can be submitted online even if the website does not list the vacancies; the three seats include one replacing Peter and two new seats created when the commission’s bylaws were changed. “We will have three openings,” Stephanie said, and added that applications are submitted online through the city website and subsequently considered by the mayor and appointing authority.
Commissioners expressed concern that the city web posting still lists five members and does not show the new vacancies. A commissioner said that posting is “not a very welcoming way for the city to ask for people to volunteer their time” and urged the clerk’s office to correct the vacancy display. Stephanie said she has requested the update from the clerk and will follow up.
