The director of world languages joined the subcommittee to describe how French immersion has operated in Milton (starts in Grade 1 rather than kindergarten) and how DESE early-literacy screening requirements are applied.
Why it matters: demand for the program and waiting lists prompted parents to request clarification; the subcommittee said it will review a redline of the proposed policy language at its May meeting and that a full presentation on the program for the full committee could be helpful.
