The Monona City Council approved a contract award to repair and replace the roof and exterior envelope of the Public Works garage.
Public Works staff said the facility has experienced long-standing roof leaks and interior damage; the approved contract covers full roof replacement, new caulking and sealants, replacement of damaged siding with aluminum, door repairs and paint, and upgrades to ventilation systems as scope allows. Staff said the building had not had major improvements since the 1990s.
Bids came in below the department’s earlier conservative estimates. Staff recommended and Public Works committee supported awarding the contract to the apparent low bidder, a firm the department has worked with on previous city projects. The council approved the award (Resolution 25-4-2798) and directed staff to proceed with contract execution.
Why it matters: the work addresses ongoing interior water-damage and reduces the risk of mold and further deterioration, according to staff.
