The Port Angeles School District Board of Directors adopted Resolution number 2425-11 at its April 24 meeting declaring April 14–18, 2025 as Public School Volunteer Week for the district.
Doctor Long read the resolution to the board, which praised volunteers for serving as chaperones, mentors, tutors, club leaders, PTO and PTA participants, classroom helpers, athletic coaches and other roles. The resolution text noted volunteers’ contributions to scholarships, mini grants and community events.
The resolution states that volunteers ‘‘provide an invaluable contribution to the education of our students’’ and specifically references the work of community volunteers and groups supporting district schools. The resolution was adopted at a regular open public meeting of the board in April 2025.
Board members and presenters acknowledged the Port Angeles Education Foundation (PAEF) and local volunteers for supporting field trips, swimming lessons and other student programs.
