One board member stated the process included a "roadshow" of materials available for parent review and emphasized that classroom teachers and staff led the recommendation process.
A board member also observed that eight years is a long adoption cycle for science, which can evolve quickly; the comment reflected a preference for careful vetting and ongoing review. The roll-call vote recorded Yes from Board member Ellis, Board member Hendricks, Board member Curry and Chair Griffith.
Next steps: The district will proceed with procurement and implementation planning for the adopted instructional materials to be used starting in the 2025'26 school year.
