Registration is open for a college core program offering university students the chance to help their community and address food insecurity, a staff member said. Applications are open until April 1 or until all 59 spots are filled.
The program is funded through a state grant and is designed to reduce student debt while providing opportunities for public service and local leadership, the staff member said.
A staff member described personal benefits from participating: "It helps me with my classes, with tuition, with all of that. It also helps me to with this sense of community because now I'm, like, helping and giving back to this community," the staff member said.
The announcement did not provide additional details on participating campuses, how students apply beyond the deadline, or which local projects students would support. Funding and administrative details were described only as coming from a "state grant," and no statute, grant name, or implementing agency was specified in the remarks.
Applications close April 1 or when all 59 participant slots are filled, the staff member said.
