At the April 24 City Council meeting the council approved the consent agenda by voice vote with a motion from Council Member Nutting and a second from Council Member Mahoney.
The consent agenda items read into the record and approved were: (1) approval of vouchers; (2) South Sound Opening Day of Boating Season proclamation (proclaimed May 10, 2025); (3) Sexual Assault Awareness Month proclamation (proclaimed April 2025); and (4) Laborers, LIUNA Local 242 proclamation (proclaimed May 9, 2025).
Council Member Nutting moved to approve the consent agenda "as read." Council Member Mahoney seconded. The mayor called the vote and the council approved the consent agenda unanimously.
The proclamations are ceremonial recognitions and do not create binding city policy or appropriate funds. The laborers proclamation included an announcement that the Local 242 training-facility ribbon-cutting and dedication is scheduled for May 9 at noon with invited speakers including the governor and other officials, according to Local 242 representatives on the dais.
Motion: "I move to approve the consent agenda as read." Mover: Council Member Nutting. Second: Council Member Mahoney. Outcome: approved, tally 7–0.
