The City of Spokane announced on Sunday that Qualtrion Drive will be closed between U.S. 195 and Lincoln Boulevard for water department repairs, and that street department crews will continue grind-and-overlay work on Havana Street between Harton Avenue and Third Avenue.
The closures and lane reductions affect South Spokane drivers, nearby businesses and people traveling to local schools. City of Spokane staff said crews will also start work on the Scott Elementary Safe Routes to School project and urged motorists to slow down, follow detours and obey flaggers.
City communications said the Qualtrion Drive closure is for water-department repairs and "should wrap up by the evening." Starting Monday, Harton Avenue will be reduced to one lane between Freya Street and Havana Street with flaggers on-site while crews work. The street department’s grind-and-overlay project on Havana Street will continue between Harton Avenue and Third Avenue.
Officials encouraged motorists and residents to allow extra travel time, support businesses affected by construction and check the City of Spokane’s website for updates by clicking the construction icon.
