Metro Police names Captain Brian Williams transit liaison; board welcomes first transit policing unit lead

The board and staff said Captain Williams will initially oversee the agency’s secondary employment officers while the new transit policing unit is staffed and funded. Board members expressed appreciation for the new role and said they look forward to ongoing coordination between MNPD, the security contractor and agency operations to improve safety for customers and staff.
No formal board vote was required for the introduction; this was an informational welcome and briefing.
