On the phone system, the administration said the district currently uses Mitel hardware and that the manufacturer’s support chain and a vendor bankruptcy made replacement prudent. Technology staff tested a comparable system and recommended switching to a new vendor platform with internal deployment and training by district technology staff. The board authorized replacement using capital reserve funds with a not‑to‑exceed authorization of $300,000; the administration said the expected cost is likely substantially lower but requested the higher authorization as a contingency to complete summer installations and avoid starting the school year with partial service.
Both votes were taken by roll call and passed. The custodial contract award was presented as an RFP result and the phone‑system purchase was described as capital work scheduled for the summer; administrators said they will return with final purchase details when the installations are complete.
