The City Commission approved a resolution authorizing the purchase of manhole rings and covers from Ferguson Water Works (project number 616) in an amount not to exceed $44,945.
City staff said the purchase covers 50 manhole rings and covers and that the purchase price does not include the cost of installation. The city manager and city engineer explained the city sought proposals and received the bid from Ferguson Water Works; staff noted the purchase price is intended to save sales tax and to have parts on hand for prioritized replacements. The city manager said installation will be performed by a contractor selected and brought back to the commission for approval.
Residents asked whether three bids were solicited and whether the bid price remains valid; staff said the solicitation produced bids included in the meeting packet and that the vendor had agreed to hold the price. The commission discussed priorities and asked for a map or other public-facing documentation identifying which manholes are scheduled for replacement; staff said locations will be identified after purchase and a contractor is engaged.
The commission approved the resolution after roll-call voting; the motion passed 3–2.
