Select Board endorses advisory committee’s legislative priorities and asks state delegation for increased PILOT funding

The Select Board voted to endorse a set of letters drafted by the Advisory Committee that outline municipal legislative priorities and requests to the town’s state delegation.
The advisory committee had compiled a list of priority requests, including additional PILOT (Payment in Lieu of Taxes) funding and other state assistance. Using a formula referenced in its letter, the advisory committee requested the board seek $400,000 in PILOT support; the committee also recommended supporting House Docket (renumbered from an earlier bill reference) 3678, which staff and the board noted as a priority appearing in the state legislative session.
Select Board members discussed the timing of such requests and noted that while the FY26 state budget process is underway, sending a unified local statement can help draw the attention of the local legislative office staff. The board asked staff to collect the Word files of advisory letters, finalize the select board letterhead and circulate the letters for electronic signature so they could be sent to Representative and Senator offices promptly.
Action taken: The Select Board voted to adopt and transmit advisory committee letters — including legislative priorities, pilot funding request and support for the referenced house docket — to the town’s state delegation.
