Friends of Vienna outline June Freedom Festival lineup; council awards $5,000 sponsorships

Representatives of the Friends of Vienna presented plans and a marketing update for this year—s Freedom Festival to the Vienna City Council on April 24 and received two $5,000 sponsorship checks from council members.
Amanda (surname not specified), who identified herself as the Friends of Vienna treasurer and marketing lead, said the festival will move to Spencer—s Landing in June and will feature carnival rides, craft and food vendors, tethered hot-air balloon rides, a rodeo, expanded drone light shows (200 drones this year, up from 100 last year), an antique car/motorcycle show and headline musical acts including Chapel Hart and Home Free. Organizers also said the Patriot Parachute Team, a veteran-owned parachute team, will perform and that the festival secured national food vendors and expanded billboard and media marketing across the region.
Council members Jim Leach and another councilmember presented checks of $5,000 each to Friends of Vienna during the meeting. Organizers said those sponsor contributions help underwrite the event and that the festival is sponsor-driven.
Organizers told council they are pursuing additional vendors and will continue marketing across nearby markets and regional media. The council thanked the volunteers and donors who support the event.
