The Town Council adopted Ordinance 18-65 on second reading on April 23, establishing the fee schedule for the town’s forthcoming community center.
Billy (town staff) said the rates were set so the facility will remain competitive with nearby venues. The clerk reported the town’s “Save the Date” notice has already produced interest: “we’ve had 25 different people already booked the facility,” she said. Council members discussed using a contracted manager to handle bookings and assemble a local-vendor package for caterers and services.
The ordinance passed by voice vote, recorded as 4–0. The council said staff will pursue an independent contractor agreement for managing bookings and local vendor outreach and will bring contract details back to the council when ready.
Why it matters: The schedule establishes user fees and clears the way for commercial booking and event planning ahead of the community center’s opening. Early bookings suggest local demand for the facility.
What’s next: Town staff will pursue a facilities management agreement and make the user/vendor package available to renters.
