The committee representative (unnamed) said members want a simple mechanism to receive community contributions for ramps and other accessibility improvements and are not asking for an appropriation from the city.
City staff explained there are two mechanisms depending on how the money will be used: if funds are received and spent in the same fiscal year they could be handled through an operating (journal) account; if they are earmarked for a specific project, the funds might be held in a project or GRAMA account and would require a budget amendment when spent.
“I don't have an issue with creating the mechanism to do that and we're gonna finance to do that. The ask is just essentially be the bank,” City staff (unnamed) said.
Staff said they would work with the committee to set up the appropriate accounting structure and return with details.
