Camarillo Library marks five graduates from Career Online High School program

The Camarillo City Council recognized five adults who completed the Career Online High School program offered through the Camarillo Public Library’s Adult Literacy Center.
Library Director Mandy Nasser introduced the graduates and the program, saying the library has been a participant in Career Online High School since July 2023 through the California State Library and that the library enrolled 13 students and is proud to announce its first five graduates.
The program gives adults access to an accredited high school diploma and career certificates. Nasser said the five graduates received certificates in office management, home care professional, childcare and education. Ignacio Torres and Nooshan (Nooshan Canty) spoke at the meeting; Torres said the online format made it easier for him to complete his coursework, and Canty said she plans to continue at Ventura College in the fall. "I'm very grateful for this opportunity," Torres said.
Vice Mayor Tennyson, identified by Mayor Kildee as representing the City Council, congratulated the graduates and praised the library's role in lifelong learning. Council Member Martinez Bravo, Council Member Santangelo and Council Member Tremblay also offered congratulations from the dais.
Nasser encouraged other adults interested in obtaining a diploma to contact the Adult Literacy Center at the library for enrollment information.
The recognition was part of the meeting’s presentation section; no council action was required.
