Town council members asked whether the county had hired a consultant to study a regional or indoor shooting range for law enforcement. County officials said no consultant has been hired.
County staff said they previously sought state support through the budgeting process for a regional multi-jurisdictional facility but “there was no line item in the budget,” and so no state funding was secured. The county has not initiated its own consultant engagement since the state request received no dedicated funding, county staff said.
Town representatives asked whether the county had received any response from the state; county staff said the absence of a line item constituted the response, meaning the request did not receive funding. No further action or contract award was reported at the meeting.
Participants said the county’s budget proposals are still under review and that priorities would guide whether to pursue a consultant or local funding in the future.
