Extension office outlines FY25 budget, says new facility near completion and plans May 20 open house

He told members the new facility is near completion — pending final grading, blacktop and a few minor items delayed by weather — and that staff expect to move in “definitely before the start of the fiscal year, but within the next, hopefully, 3 to 4 weeks.”
Adkins said an open house is planned for May 20 and that he believed it would run “from 2 to 4” p.m.; he added he did not know the exact time. He described services offered through the Extension Office: canning and gardening education, livestock and 4‑H youth development, leadership programs and guidance for small business activities such as opening a roadside stand.
Adkins also advised caution to motorists during planting and harvest seasons because farm equipment moves slowly on county roads. The court thanked Adkins for the presentation and confirmed the minutes should reflect that he presented the budget.
The court did not take a funding action on the budget during the presentation; the item was informational and advisory to the court’s budget process.
