A Forest Glen parent told the Glen Ellyn SD 41 Board of Education that bus route No. 4 has repeatedly been late or missed stops, and asked the district to press the contractor for reliable service.
Magdalena Nevinski, speaking in public participation, said the bus missed a stop once during the month but that a new driver has been more punctual at drop-off; she asked the district to continue monitoring the contractor. The superintendent, Dr. Jeff McHugh, said the district conducted a 30-minute webinar for bussing families that outlined two main options: require and monitor improved performance from the current vendor (Safeway) or switch to another provider at substantially higher cost. The webinar, McHugh said, was recorded and distributed to families so administrators could gather feedback and answer questions.
McHugh said the district is continuing weekly conversations with Safeway and that decisions — including whether to solicit another contractor — will be made after administrative review of operational performance and parent feedback. He encouraged families to continue submitting bus concerns and questions to district staff so administrators can track trends and weigh costs and service reliability.
No formal board action was taken on transportation at the meeting; staff said they would return to the board if and when they recommend a contract change or additional budgetary action tied to a new provider.
