Moore Haven FBLA chapter asks Glades County for business support for CTE students

Students from the Moore Haven Middle High School chapter of Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) presented to the Glades County Board of County Commissioners on Feb. 24, 2025, describing their chapter’s work and asking for support from local businesses for Career and Technical Education (CTE) opportunities.
The students said the chapter has about 50 high-school members and two middle-school members and highlighted FBLA’s focus on service, education and competitive events in areas including public speaking, agribusiness and health-care administration. A student presenter told the board the chapter hopes local businesses will offer internships, job-shadowing and sponsorships to expand student access to real-world experience.
Commissioners thanked the students and encouraged them to continue attending college and return as local business leaders; one commissioner noted the chapter’s leader had helped him in the past. The board did not take formal action on the presentation; the item was presented as a recognition and request for community support.
The students also described CTE-certification counts across recent school years and asked for continued community partnerships so students can gain certifications and workplace-ready skills.
