Cumberland County approves routine contracts, grant extension and bridge inspections

The Cumberland County Board of Commissioners approved a package of routine contracts, service agreements and a one-year extension to an indigent defense grant at its regular meeting. Actions included a letter of support for a free dental clinic, site civil engineering services to implement the county's Facilities Master Plan, several aging-services contract adjustments, a contract for digital laboratory verification for the district attorney, a finance-system integration contract, interim inspections on 30 municipal small bridges and a one-year, $100,939 extension to the county's PCCD indigent defense grant.

The approvals affect county operations across facilities planning, aging services, public defense and road safety. Commissioners recorded voice votes approving each item; several presenters told the commissioners the items were routine and supported by staff.

Shannon Geiswight, asked by the board for a letter of support for a neighborhood assistance program application, said the clinic opened in November to provide free dental care "for individuals with disabilities who don't have access to dental care, and also children under 5 with severe tooth decay no matter what their disability status is." The board voted to provide the requested letter of support.
