Charles River shared services group finalizes strategic-plan goals, timelines and reporting format

The Charles River Public Health District shared services advisory group on an online meeting reviewed and refined draft five-year goals, assigned broad timelines and identified staff owners for a strategic plan intended to finish by the end of the current fiscal year.

Arissa from BME told the group the consultants had added broad timelines and role-level owners and described Year 1 work as “truly just to explore the metric rollout and what that looks like” for electronic recordkeeping, referencing the Metric software under consideration. The consultants placed early exploration and Q&A in years 1–2, implementation in years 3–4 and grant-seeking to support software costs in year 1–2.

Participants endorsed keeping communications and onboarding work near the front of the schedule. Carrie (shared services staff) and several town representatives urged moving communications tasks earlier because they are less staff‑intensive and provide visible returns. Participants asked that the monthly reporting packet include an executive-summary version or “CliffNotes” of the larger tracking spreadsheet with links to deeper material so town leaders can use a short, digestible summary in municipal packets.

Consultants described continued interview work (about 10 interviews completed) and said they will present final interview findings plus proposed performance metrics at the May meeting, with a goal of finalizing narrative content before June for design and publication. BME said they expect the plan content to be finished for approval before the June 30 fiscal-year deadline.
