The procurement used the National Purchasing Partners (NPP) cooperative contract to accelerate the summer installation schedule and begin construction during the summer so the equipment will be ready for use by fall.
A board member asked about funding; staff replied that the purchase will be paid from proceeds from the sale of district sites. Trustees moved, seconded and approved the contract by voice vote with trustees responding “Aye.”
Why it matters: Playgrounds are part of school capital improvements funded by the district’s bond program and other capital accounts; the district said the work is aimed at getting main construction done over summer to minimize disruption to the school year.
The contract award includes supply and installation at Latimer and uses a purchasing cooperative to expedite procurement and scheduling. Staff said they would provide a project schedule to trustees and work to complete major construction over the summer.
